How fees work
What dental care costs depends on the work and on your plan. Here is how paying works here, in the order most people ask.
Insurance we work with
We work with some dental PPO plans and file those claims for you. If your plan is not one of them, we are out of network with it and still give you the paperwork to ask it for payment. Dental plans seldom pay for sedation, so ask before you book it. Medicare does not cover routine dental care; Medicare Advantage plans differ, so ask us.
Some PPO plans: in network, we file the claim
Other plans: out of network, we give you a receipt
DHMO plans: not in network
Not enrolled with Medicaid or CHIP
If you pay yourself
If you don't have insurance, or would rather not use it, you pay at the visit. You will know the fee before we start, in writing, and nothing is added to it afterward. Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender.

An estimate in advance
You can ask for a written estimate before any treatment. If you are paying without insurance, we give you a written estimate in advance, when you book or whenever you ask. It lists each step we expect and the fee for each, and you can take it home before you decide.

Checking your benefits
Before your exam we check your plan's dental benefits and tell you what it says it will pay. A plan's answer is an estimate, and the plan makes the final decision. If sedation is part of your plan of care, we ask about it too.

Receipts for reimbursement
After a visit we give you an itemized receipt. You can send it to a plan that reimburses out-of-network care. Whether it pays, and how much, is the plan's decision.

What the first visit includes
The first visit is a conversation, a tour of the treatment room and a look at the tools. About an hour, with no treatment. Tell us when you book and we will quote you the fee for it, in writing.

Questions about a fee?
Ask before you come. Detra can talk through how a visit is billed, and write the estimate when you book.
