Questions we hear most

Do you take my insurance?

We work with some dental PPO plans and file those claims for you. Others are out of network, and we give you a receipt to send to the plan. How fees work has the list by plan type.

What if I don't have insurance?

You pay at the visit and know the fee in writing first. How fees work explains the estimate and third-party financing.

Do you accept Medicaid or CHIP?

No. We are not enrolled with Medicaid or CHIP.

Will it hurt?

Dr. Zand numbs the area before she works and checks that it has taken. You may feel pressure. You can raise a hand for a break at any time, and we can't promise you will feel nothing.

How often do I need X-rays and a cleaning?

Dr. Zand decides, from what she sees in your mouth. For most people it is every six months to a year.

What is a deep cleaning?

A longer cleaning below the gumline, with numbing. Dr. Zand recommends it only if she finds buildup there.

Do you see children?

We treat adults. If you have a child who needs a dentist, we can suggest a pediatric dentist.

What counts as a dental emergency?

Swelling that spreads, trouble breathing or swallowing, or bleeding that won't stop is an emergency. Go to an emergency room or call 911. For a broken tooth or a toothache, call us and we will tell you what we can do.

Do you offer sedation, and who gives it?

We offer oral sedation, given by Dr. Zand under a state permit, with an assistant in the room. You need an adult to take you home. Sedation page has the details.

Can I get a written estimate before treatment?

Yes. You can ask for one before any treatment, and we give one to anyone paying without insurance.

Do you speak Spanish?

Itzayana Orozco speaks Spanish and English at the front desk and in the treatment room. Dr. Zand treats in English.

How do I change or cancel a visit?

Call or text us as early as you can, and we will find another time. If you are nervous about coming, call anyway and tell us.

Still wondering about something?

Call, or send a note. Please leave out health details; we will reply by phone, text or email.
